Five Fingering Scraper

The Five-Finger Scratch Tester is a device used to measure the scratch and abrasion resistance of a material surface. It is commonly used to test the surface hardness, wear resistance, and scratch resistance of materials such as coatings, paints, plastics, and glass.

Operation Steps

1. First, prepare the accessories and test sample.

2. Install the five independent shafts equipped with weights on the test stand.

3. Install the scratching fingers to the bottom of the shafts and secure the test sample to the test platform.

4. Start the tester.

5. Set the test load, stroke, and speed parameters on the LCD screen.

6. The guide rails start to move, and the scratching fingers move back and forth across the test sample.

7. When the timer expires, the guide rails stop moving, and the horizontal axis bracket is raised.

8. Loosen the sample clamp and remove the test sample.

9. After the instrument test is complete, remove the sample for analysis and comparison to evaluate the material's resistance to scratching, gouging, and other abrasions.

Daily Maintenance

Cleaning the Scraper Blade: After each use, remove any residual material from the scraper blade. Wipe the scraper blade with a soft cloth or a dedicated cleaning agent to ensure the blade edge and surface are clean and smooth. This prevents material from drying onto the scraper blade and affecting its performance and accuracy the next time it is used.

Checking Scraper Blade Wear: Regularly inspect the blade edge and edges for signs of wear, nicks, or deformation. If the scraper is severely worn, replace it promptly to ensure proper operation of the scraper system. Generally, scrapers with high precision requirements require replacement when edge wear reaches a certain level (e.g., 0.1-0.5 mm, depending on the scraper's usage and material).

Cleaning Other Components of the Scraper System: In addition to the scraper blade itself, other components of the scraper system, such as the scraper frame and connectors, also need to be cleaned. Remove dust, oil, and residual material from these components to prevent them from entering the scraper's moving parts or affecting the scraper's installation accuracy.
